The Sunrise Side Master Gardener Association (SSMGA) represents Master Gardeners from Michigan's Sunrise Side which is located along Lake Huron in Northeast Michigan.  Some of the cities members represent include  East Tawas,  Tawas City, AuGres, Hale, Harrisville, National City, Whittemore and Oscoda.  General membership meetings with a featured speaker are held once a month throughout the year. Some of the volunteer projects include: the Northeast Michigan Regional Farm Market, the Iosco County Medical Care Facility, the Iosco County Fair, the Annual Home and Garden Show, the Junior Master Gardener Program,  and numerous beautification projects throughout the community.


Do you need a speaker for your group’s meetings? 

Master Gardeners will speak on various garden related subjects. 

Programs are presented by Iosco County MSU Extension Master Gardeners of the Sunrise Side Master   Gardener Association. 
Master Gardeners will speak on various garden related subjects such as:  Container Gardening, House Plants, Growing Herbs, Gardening with Children, Designing a Butterfly Garden, Vegetable Gardening and more.

The length of these presentations may be a minimum of 30 minutes to 1 hr.  There is no charge for presentations; however an honorarium (donated to SSMGA) is gratefully accepted.

Mission Statement

Joining together as Master Gardeners, our mission is to share our enthusiasm and

knowledge of gardening by a wide variety of educational and volunteer activities

in the spirit of friendship and fun.

In conjunction with Michigan State University Extension, we will continue to educate

ourselves and to provide community members with up-to-date consumer horticultural

information using environmentally sound practices.
